IPIX interactive closed-loop cybernetic marine radar c. 1991

The IPIX marine radar was the brainchild of Simon Haykin and his research team at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, in pursuit of an interactive closed-loop cybernetic marine radar system capable of cognition, i.e. an intelligent radar with realtime feedback, resulting in an interactive water-human-computer (WaterHCI) interface.

In many ways this was an early example of Water-Human-Computer Interaction (WaterHCI).

More than 30 years in the study of growlers and growlerboarding led to this more recent research: (video link), and "growlerboarding" and "growler games"... (link to videos)
