Geometric code
Geometric code (g-code):
- invented at MIT in the 1950s.
- the fundamental language of CNC.
- the most widely used numerical control programming language.
- instructs machines where and how to move.
Many different variations, but on the machines in our lab:
- G0=G00 = fast move;
- G1=G01 = straight move;
- G2=G02 = circular arc in negative angle direction (clockwise);
- G3=G03 = circular arc in positive angle direction;
- ...
- G20 = set to inches;
- G21 = set to mm;
- ...
- G28 = home all axes
- ...
- G90 = absolute
- G91 = relative
